Another hat-trick from Messi keeps Barca in top spot

23 Oct

A Lionel Messi hat-trick helped Barcelona take all three points against plucky Deportivo La Corua in a nine-goal thriller at the Nou Camp stadium. Jordi Alba and Cristian Tello also scored as Tito Vilanova’s side clinched a 5-4 victory to keep them at the top of the table.

Atltico Madrid keep pace with Bara after snatching a last-minute victory at Real Sociedad thanks to the prolific Falcao.

Despite their injury-weakened side, Real Madrid managed to secure a comfortable 2-0 win over Celta Vigo. Thanks to Higuain’s cross-come-shot and a penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo, Real now sit in fourth place in the table.

Valencia snatched a 3-2 victory away from 10-man Athletic Bilbao with two late goals from Tino Costa and Nelso Valdez adding to a Roberto Soldado penalty to make sure of the three points.

Mlaga came from behind to beat 10-man Valladolid 2-1, with Joaquin slotting in the winner just three minutes from time.

Espanyol got their first win of the season and finally moved off the foot of the table after a thrilling 3-2 home victory over Rayo Vallecano.

Osasuna, however, slipped to the bottom of the standings after being held to a 0-0 draw at home by Real Betis.

Levante snatched a 1-0 win away at Getafe with Michel firing home in the 87th minute after a closely-fought contest.

Real Zaragoza moved above Granada in the table after a solid first half secured a 2-1 away win.
